Important
In centimeters, please provide your measurements for the dressmaker's points:
Weight, Height, Underbust, Waist, Hip, and Bra Cup Size
Materials Needed
- Flexible measuring tape
- A notepad and pen for recording measurements
- A full-length mirror (optional but helpful)
- Someone to help (optional but helpful)
Wear Fitted Clothing
- To get the most accurate measurements, wear fitted clothing
Stand Straight
- Stand up straight with your feet together and your arms relaxed at your sides
Make Space
- Ensure there's enough space to insert one finger comfortably between your body and the tape measure
Guidelines:
Weight
- Enter your weight in Kilograms
Height
- Take the measurement from the top of your head down to your feet
Underbust Circumference
- Stand straight with your arms relaxed
- Measure directly under your bust around your ribcage
- Keep the tape parallel to the floor and snug
Waist Circumference
- Find your natural waistline, which is the narrowest part of your torso
- Wrap the tape measure around your waist, making sure it's snug but not tight
- Keep your stomach relaxed, without sucking it in, and breathe normally
Hip Circumference
- Stand with your feet together
- Measure around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks
- Keep the tape parallel to the floor
Cup Size
- Measure your band size: Wear a non-padded bra and wrap the measuring tape snugly but comfortably around your underbust, directly under your breasts
- Measure your bust: While keeping the measuring tape level, circle it around the fullest part of your breasts
- Calculate your cup size: Subtract your band size from your bust measurement. The difference determines your cup size according to a standard chart (typically, one inch difference equals one cup size)
Here's a general guideline:
Difference (cm) = Cup size:
- 2.5 = AA
- 5 = A
- 7.5 = B
- 10 = C
- 12.5 = D
- 15 = DD
Note: Round up to the larger cup size if in between sizes
Tips:
- Double-check each measurement for accuracy
- If you have someone to help you, it can make the process easier and more precise
- Make sure the measuring tape is flat and not twisted
- Record all measurements in the same units (centimeters)
